Workflow at a glance
Making a game in OasisW takes four steps: "build with the AI → run it yourself to check → fix and polish → publish." This page lists what you use at each step and where to learn more. If you're new, follow steps 1 to 3 once in Make your first game.
The four steps
| Step | What you do | Where | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Build | Describe the game you want in a sentence and send it to the AI. The AI creates entities and scripts, and fetches models from the asset store if needed | Left toolbar AI → AI GAME BUILDER panel | Open the AI panel and send a prompt, Principles for writing prompts |
| 2. Check | Run the game in a new tab, play it from start to finish, and note anything odd | Top bar ▶ Launch | Run with Launch |
| 3. Fix and polish | Have the AI fix defects whose cause you don't know, and make changes manually when you know the exact value. Get models from the asset store | AI panel, HIERARCHY and ENTITY panels, ASSETS → ASSET STORE | Send fix prompts, Editor layout |
| 4. Publish | Publish the game to a public URL, then play it once more at the public URL. When you publish again after fixing, set the new build as the primary build | Left toolbar Publish / Download → BUILDS | Publish your game, Republish and the primary build |
You go back and forth between steps 2 and 3 several times. In our tests, the first version the AI built had defects in all 3 runs, and in some runs something else changed even after a fix prompt. So whatever you change, go back to step 2 afterward and run the game from the start. The same applies at step 4: a game that worked with ▶ Launch sometimes didn't work at the public URL (a game using physics, 2026-10-26).
When to work manually and when to use the AI
You can often do the same thing either manually or with the AI. There is one rule: if you know exactly what to change and to what value, do it manually; if you don't, or several things need to change together, let the AI do it. Manual edits take a few seconds, use no credits, and change only the field you edit. AI requests take several minutes, and there have been cases where the AI changed things you didn't ask for. For details, see What AI GAME BUILDER can and can't do.
Saving
You don't click a save button. Changes made by the AI are applied to the scene when its work finishes, and values you changed manually also remained after a refresh (1 run). For details, see Autosave.
