Section 3. Editor How-to Pending 2

Move, rotate, and scale entities

You change an entity's position, rotation, and scale by dragging the gizmo in the viewport or by entering values in the Position·Rotation·Scale fields of the ENTITY panel. If you know the exact values, entering them in the fields is faster; when you're adjusting by eye, use the gizmo.

The tests on this page were done in the oasisw.ai editor with one new project (macOS Chrome) on 2026-10-29. Unless noted otherwise, each action was tested once.

Before you start

Do it in the editor

Enter values

  1. In the Position, Rotation, or Scale row of the ENTITY panel, click the field for the axis you want to change (X, Y, Z).
  2. Enter a value and press Tab. The value is applied and focus moves to the next axis field. Update Transform appears on the right side of the bottom bar.
  3. When you're done, press Esc to leave the field.

Position is in meters and rotation is in degrees (°). A new entity starts with Position 0, 0, 0, Rotation 0, 0, 0, and Scale 1, 1, 1. The default scene's Box has Position Y 0.5 so that it sits on the floor.

When you hover over a field, copy and paste icons appear to its left and a ↔ handle appears inside it. With copy and paste, you can move one entity's three values to another entity. In a test on 2026-10-30, we copied Light's Rotation (45, 30, 0) with the copy icon and clicked the paste icon on Zone's Rotation; Zone's Rotation became 45, 30, 0. A single Undo reverts it. Pending Verify dragging the ↔ handle

Use the gizmo

  1. With the entity selected, choose a gizmo with a number key or the top buttons of the left toolbar.
  2. In the viewport, drag the gizmo's arrows (move), rings (rotate), or boxes (scale). Red is X, green is Y, and blue is Z.
  3. When you release, the values update immediately in the ENTITY fields. An action name such as Move Entities appears on the right side of the bottom bar.

Dragging the green arrow up changed the sphere's Position Y from 0 to 0.33. The value changes by a decimal amount matching how far you drag. If you need round values, turn on Snap (below) or enter the value in the field.

Snap, World / Local, Focus

The three buttons below the gizmo buttons change how the gizmo behaves.

ButtonKeyWhat it does
World / LocalLSwitches the gizmo axes between scene-relative (World) and entity-relative (Local). It only makes a difference when the entity is rotated. In Local, the gizmo axes rotate with the entity. Dragging the red axis of a Light with Rotation 45, 30, 0 in Local changed its Position from 0, 0, 0 to 1.231, 0, -0.71, so X and Z changed together (tested 2026-10-30, 1 run). In World, the red axis changes only X
Snap—When on, dragging with the gizmo changes values in fixed increments. The increment is the Snap field under SETTINGS → EDITOR, shown when nothing is selected (default 1)
FocusFMoves the viewport camera in front of the selected entity

With Snap on, dragging a sphere at Y 0.33 upward made it 1.33. Snap doesn't align values to the grid; it changes them in increments from the current value. To place an entity at a whole-number position, enter a whole number in the field first, then drag.

Let the AI do it

If you know the exact values for a single entity, entering them manually is faster. It takes a few seconds and changes only the fields you edit. An AI prompt takes a few minutes and may change other things. Rearranging many entities according to a rule (such as lining up 10 stars in a grid) is better done by the AI. In a test on 2026-10-27, the AI made and carried out a plan to "rearrange the 10 stars into a 3×4 grid close to the ball".

Pending Send a prompt to change position and size 3 times and record the results

Check the result

  • Check that the values in the ENTITY fields are what you want.
  • For entities with physics, run the game with Launch and check that they don't sink into the floor or fall through. See Run with Launch.
