Create a project and open the editor
On the dashboard, click New project and enter a name. The project is created and the editor opens in a new tab. This page explains how to create a project, open your first scene in the editor, and get back to the dashboard.
Before you start
- You must be signed in. See Sign in and create an account.
- For how projects, scenes, and entities relate, see Projects, scenes, entities, components, and assets. A project contains multiple scenes.
Do it in the editor
Create a new project
- Click New project at the top right of the dashboard. The New project window appears.
- Make sure Blank project is selected. To start from a zip file exported from another editor, choose Import from file.
- Enter a name in Project name. You can use up to 32 characters.
- Edit Description (optional) if needed. You can use up to 10000 characters (screen as of 2026-10-29; 360 characters on 2026-10-26).
- Under Visibility, choose Public or Private.
- Click Create and open editor. The editor opens in a new browser tab (4 of 4 runs). The dashboard stays in the original tab.
Open your first scene
When the editor opens, the SCENES window appears in the center first. A new project has one scene with the same name as the project.
- In the SCENES window, click the scene name. The window closes and the scene opens.
- Check that the four entities
Camera,Light,Box, andPlaneare in HIERARCHY on the left. A new scene isn't empty; it starts with these four entities.
The left side of the SCENES window has Project settings, Scenes, Version control, Builds & Publish, Team, and See all projects. To open this window again, click the scene name in the top bar. To create more scenes, see Create and switch scenes.
Return to the dashboard
- If you didn't close the dashboard tab, switch back to it.
- If you closed it, click the home icon at the left of the editor's top bar. That tab changes to the dashboard. See all projects in the SCENES window also takes you to the dashboard.
Reopen a project
- On the dashboard, click the project card. The project overview page opens.
- Click Open in editor.
You can also choose Open in editor directly from the card's ··· menu. This menu also has Collaborators, Project settings, Duplicate, Export (.zip), Make public (for private projects), Transfer ownership, and Delete.
Workspaces
The box at the top left of the dashboard shows the workspace you're viewing. At first there is one, <your name>’s workspace, and projects are created in it. If you need a place that several people manage together, such as a team or a class, click this box and choose Create a workspace. The person who creates it becomes the workspace owner. To invite teammates to a project and set their permissions, see Invite team members and set permissions.
Let the AI do it
Creating a project can't be handed to the AI. You use AI GAME BUILDER inside the editor after you create the project. Make your first game picks up from here.
Check the result
- If the scene name appears in the editor's top bar, and the bottom bar shows
<project name> — <scene name>and a green실시간(Live) indicator, the scene is open. - The new project appears in the dashboard's project list. If it doesn't, refresh the dashboard tab (see the table below).
