Section 10. Publishing and troubleshooting How-to Pending 4

Download a build

Instead of uploading your game to an OasisW public URL, you can download it as a bundle of website files. You can upload the downloaded files to your own web server or another web host. For uploading to a public URL, see Publish your game.

On 2026-10-29, we downloaded a two-scene project from the oasisw.ai editor (version shown as OasisW 7e2aa65) and checked the contents of the bundle (1 run). We haven't yet tried uploading the bundle to a web server and running it. Pending Test running on self-hosting

Before you start

  • Play the game to the end with ▶ Launch and fix what needs fixing. Downloading bundles the project as it is at that moment.
  • According to the README.txt in the bundle, if you open index.html directly as a file (file://), the browser blocks the module and config.json requests. Open it from a web server. To try it on your own computer, run python3 -m http.server or npx serve . in that folder, as in the README's example, and open it in a browser.

Do it in the editor

  1. In the left toolbar, click Publish / Download. Builds & Publish opens in the project window, with the title BUILDS. You can also click the scene name in the top bar and, in the window that opens, click Builds & Publish on the left.
  2. Click Download at the top right. The screen changes to DOWNLOAD NEW BUILD.
  3. Check the fields.
    FieldInitial valueMeaning
    TitleProject nameBuild name
Engine VersionCurrent (2.23.1)The engine version to include in the game. At the time of testing, this was the only option, so it couldn't be changed
Concatenate ScriptsOnCombines the script files into one
Minify ScriptsOnMinifies scripts to reduce their size
Generate Source MapsOffLets you trace errors in minified code back to the original line numbers
Optimize Scene FormatOffConverts scene files to a smaller format. In our test, downloading the same project with it off and on shrank the scene file scenes/<id>.json from 7,083 B to 5,904 B; the other files stayed the same size. Both were JSON files (2026-10-30, 1 run each)
Download FormatStatic WebsiteThe format to download. At the time of testing, this was the only option
SCENESAll scenes selectedThe scenes to include. Select all selects and clears all of them. Each scene shows its last modified time
  4. Click Download at the bottom. The window returns to BUILDS, and a row marked DOWNLOAD · STATIC appears at the top of Build history. In our test it changed to a green check after 7 seconds (1 run).
  5. Click the download icon on the right of that row. You get project-name.zip (in our test, physics-1029.zip, about 2.1 MB). In our test, the server once returned 503 right after the first click (1 run). If the file doesn't download, click again after a few seconds.

Upload the downloaded files

Unzip the file and you'll find the following (based on the bundle we tested):

File or folderContents
index.htmlThe start page. In the tested bundle, its tab title was the project name
__start__.jsThe script that starts the game
config.jsonEngine settings and the asset list. The start scene is also listed here
__game-scripts.jsThe project's scripts combined into one file (when Concatenate Scripts is on)
oasisw.min.mjsThe engine (about 2.5 MB)
scenes/One .json file per selected scene
files/Original asset files (images, sounds, fonts, physics engine files, and so on)
decoders/Files that decompress compressed textures and models. According to the README, they are only actually downloaded when there are compressed assets
README.txtHow to run it and what's in the bundle (in Korean)

Upload this folder to a web server as is and open the URL of index.html. Pending Test on hosts such as GitHub Pages

If there are two or more scenes, the same problem as in the published version occurs. In the tested bundle's config.json, both scenes were listed under the first scene's name (physics-1029) (Troubleshooting in Publish your game).

Games that use physics have a defect where the physics engine fails to load at the public URL (Publish your game). The downloaded bundle contained three physics engine files (under files/) and their settings, but we haven't yet confirmed that physics actually works. After uploading, be sure to play the game yourself. Pending Test physics behavior on self-hosting
