Introduction to OasisW
OasisW is a game editor that runs in your browser. There is nothing to install: you sign in, then build scenes, attach scripts, and run your game in a browser tab. The editor includes AI GAME BUILDER. Describe the game you want in a sentence, and the AI builds and edits the scenes and scripts for you.
What's different
If you have used another engine, the basic structure of OasisW will feel familiar. A scene contains entities, and you attach components and scripts to entities. For how the names map, see Terms from other engines. There are four differences.
| Difference | In OasisW |
|---|---|
| Running | The editor doesn't switch into a play mode. When you click ▶ Launch, the game opens in a new browser tab |
| Saving | There is no save button. Your changes are stored on the server right away |
| AI | Send a prompt in the AI GAME BUILDER panel, and the AI creates and edits entities and scripts. You check the result by running the game yourself |
| Assets | Search for 3D models in the editor's ASSET STORE and import them into your project. Upload your own files with Upload |
Asset store
Click ASSET STORE in the ASSETS panel to open a list of assets organized by pack. The packs we checked include models for characters, vehicles, cities, castles, pirates, and platformers. Click an asset to see its pack name, file size, dimensions, and license. Click IMPORT to bring it into your project's ASSETS › Store folder. All assets in the store are CC0-licensed, so you can use them in commercial games without attribution.
AI GAME BUILDER also fetches the models it needs from the store on its own while it builds a game.
Publishing
Publish your game from Publish / Download in the left toolbar. Click Publish, and after a few seconds to a little over a minute you get a public URL. Anyone who has that URL can open the game in a browser. Each time you publish again after making changes, a new build is added, and the one set as the primary build (PRIMARY) is what the public URL shows. For details, see Publish your game.
Collaboration and undo
You can invite teammates to a project and give them permissions (Read Only, Read & Write, Admin). You can also save a point in the project's history as a checkpoint and restore it later. We especially recommend saving a checkpoint before you send the AI a large request. For details, see Save and restore your work with checkpoints and Invite team members and set permissions.
