Duplicate and delete scenes
Copy the current scene as-is to make another version, or delete scenes you don't use. Both are done from the ⋯ menu at the right of a scene row in the SCENES window. To create and switch scenes, see Create and switch scenes.
The tests on this page were done in the oasisw.ai editor (build label OasisW 7e2aa65, macOS Chrome) on 2026-10-29. Unless noted otherwise, each action was tested once.
Before you start
- A scene holds only the entity layout. Assets such as scripts and uploaded files are shared by the project. A duplicated scene and the original point to the same script files. If you edit a script in one, the other changes too (What's per scene and what the project shares).
Do it in the editor
Duplicate a scene
- Click the scene name in the top bar. The SCENES window opens.
- Click ⋯ at the right of the scene you want to duplicate. Duplicate Scene, Delete Scene, Item History, and Open in New Tab appear.
- Click Duplicate Scene. With no confirmation,
original name 2(for example,physics-1029 2) appears in the list. The scene that's currently open doesn't change. - To open the duplicate, click its row. To open it in a new tab, click ⋯ → Open in New Tab.
To rename a scene, open it and change Scene Name in SETTINGS.
Delete a scene
- In the SCENES window, click ⋯ → Delete Scene on the scene you want to delete.
- A confirmation dialog appears:
Are you sure you want to permanently delete scene 'scene name'?. The default selection is NO. - To delete, click YES.
When you click YES, the scene disappears from the list immediately. We were also able to delete the currently open scene (marked CURRENT) from the same menu. In that case the editor immediately switched to another remaining scene (2026-10-29, 1 run).
Item History
Clicking ⋯ → Item History opens the Graph window with the current branch name (main). In a project with no checkpoints, it showed only No checkpoints yet (1 run). In a project with checkpoints (2026-10-30, 1 run), it showed the current branch's checkpoints joined by arrows from bottom to top. One checkpoint that didn't touch this scene was left out, and the checkpoint where the scene first appeared had [+] before its name. Another checkpoint had [=]; we couldn't confirm what that means. For checkpoints, see Save and restore your work with checkpoints.
Right-clicking an entity also gives you the same Item History menu item.
Let the AI do it
Duplicate and delete scenes manually. We haven't checked a way to have the AI duplicate or delete a scene. Pending Test asking the AI to duplicate a scene
